01 / THE IDEA

Surveillance is
a design choice.

The Samourai case is the starting point for this piece: a reflection on financial self-determination and the people who build for privacy. It comes from the conviction that code can be written without asking for permission, and that privacy deserves to be defended.

At the centre stands a samurai: discipline, responsibility and conscious choice. Layered, circular fragments draw on Whirlpool and CoinJoin as a visual language for breaking the lines surveillance tries to draw.

Technical lines, schematics and code fragments surround the figure. UTXO discipline, STONEWALL, RICOCHET, TX0 and TOR-only routing are references to the Samourai stack. Precise, functional, system-oriented. The language of builders.

This piece is a record of what was built, and why it mattered to me. From builders to builders. Code is not a crime. Privacy is not an excuse. And what was built here deserves to be remembered.
