There is a version of growing up that asks you to become easier to manage. Keep your head down. Learn the routine. Stop asking awkward questions. After a while, the instructions start to sound like your own thoughts.
Corrupted by Design is the part of me that still takes the wrong turn on purpose. Curious, restless, a little difficult. The part that would rather find out where a path leads than wait for someone to approve the route.
A board under your arm changes how you look at a city. A stairway becomes a possibility. An empty stretch of concrete becomes somewhere to spend an afternoon. There is something I love about finding your own use for a place that already came with instructions.
That attitude runs through this piece. Keep a little room for play, for doubt, for the ideas that refuse to settle down. If becoming predictable is the expected outcome, I am happy to leave a few things corrupted.
